Join us to explore responsible adoption of AI tools in teaching and learning at UT Austin! ​

This one-day event celebrates the launch of responsible AI for teaching and learning efforts at UT Austin. The purpose is to convene our community and provide an opportunity to engage with experts on responsible, ethical, and effective adoption of AI tools in education. We will ask provocative questions about how AI can be harnessed for instructional and social good and share what’s next for AI technology adoption at the University.

AI is here now. This panel will forecast what's next by considering how responsible adoption might influence the future of college and university teaching and learning.

What are the ethical responsibilities of students, instructors and institutions when using AI for teaching and learning?

As artificial intelligence use becomes ubiquitous, it increasingly intersects with the concerns of higher education. Students, faculty, and administers must navigate the complexities of AI ethics, ambiguous learning environments, and the temptation to break academic integrity norms. This panel discussion aims to explore ethical responsibilities in the context of AI's integration into teaching and learning.

What is the responsibility of higher ed to prepare students for the future of work?

Kenneth Fleischmann, Robin Lerner, Amanda Crawford, Michael Redding 


How can educators ensure that students are getting the AI skills and competencies needed to be competitive on the job market and to sustain successful careers? Experts from industry (Microsoft, Indeed) and government (State of Texas) will share insights into this and other questions related to AI, education, and workforce development.

How are instructors responsibly integrating AI into their practice?

Ben Bentzin, Matt Russell, Jason Rosenblum, Nina Telang 


 How are faculty and instructors at UT integrating AI into their courses and curricula in ways that not only advance learning outcomes but are both innovative and responsible? Join us for a series of presentations and moderated panel discussion with faculty from the College of Education, the Cockrell School of Engineering, and the McCombs School of Business, all of whom are exploring new frontiers in the use of AI in higher education contexts.

How is UT Austin meeting the need for responsible AI in education?

This panel will explore the ways in which UT Austin is addressing the need for responsible AI adoption in education. The discussion will focus on spreading awareness of the resources available to the university community, sharing the responsible AI adoption framework, and demonstrating how attendees can access resources, request assistance, and engage with AI for teaching and learning on campus.
